La Cascades.

The water falls of Mortain known as the Grande Cascade and the Petite Cascade provide visitors with a wealth of natural beauty and are a much visited local attraction. Spare some time and take the marked path around the falls and there fast flowing streams.


La Petite Chapel – Hill 314.

This town is the focal point of the German Counter Attack on August 6th 1944. The hill, known as Hill 314, overlooking Mortain was a strategic stronghold held by the 2nd Battalion of the 30th US Army Division. The hill was held for 6 day’s and 6 nights with many losses until eventually relieved.

A monument stands at the base of the Hill 314 and at it’s summit the Petite Chapel remains to this day. On a clear day you can see Mont St Michel in the distance.

Abbaye Blanche.

The "Abbaye-Blanche" was founded in 1112 by Adeline, sister of Saint Vital a former chaplain to count Robert of Mortain, half-brother of William the Conqueror.
